Calls for intensification of social media campaign around Renaissance Dam
Ethiopians are urged to intensify their social media campaign around the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. Ethiopia is leading Egypt on social media, says an Egyptian researcher.
Sultan Ibrahim, who is coordinating the social media campaign in Ethiopia in Arabic and other languages, told Addis Zemen newspaper. It has been two years since the launch of the social media campaign against Egypt.
The social media campaign has spread to major media outlets and has been featured in international media. It has created Ethiopian contenders such as Mohammed al-Arsi.
According to Sultan, there is a shortage of users on Twitter. He called on the educated community, including university students, to join Twitter and defend the country. He also pointed out that since modern warfare is information, everyone should be a true warrior.
He will continue to work with universities on social media campaigns; He said the campaign will be institutionalized, adding that efforts are underway to make the campaign institutional and lead it through the digital diplomacy department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He said the media in Ethiopia is translating into those who work in the local language in Arabic, adding that it is being done by the West. The Renaissance Dam is harmless and shows Ethiopia's natural ownership of the Nile River.
