Work is underway to complete the Megech Irrigation and Drinking Dam project in August, according to the project manager.

The project manager, Engineer Tsegaye Mekonnen, said the construction of the dam has reached 69 percent.
According to Tsegaye, the construction work is being carried out 24 hours a day due to the shortage of construction materials.
He said the dam is 77.1 meters high, 890 meters long and has a capacity of 187 million cubic meters.
He said 30 percent of the dam's water will be used for drinking water in Gondar town. He said 70 percent of the 17,000 hectares of land will be irrigated and will benefit 45,000 farmers' families.
